vitamix-ruby_t.jpgThe number-one job for a blender is crushing ice to make smoothies, milkshakes, and other frozen concoctions. But most blenders cannot handle ice. And most kitchen electrics offer no more than a one-year warranty.

Then there is the Vita-Mix, an extraordinary machine with a seven-year warranty. The two-horsepower motor can easily handle ice everyday. The powerful vortex can handle any food — nuts, seeds, vegetables, and much more. The container holds 64 ounces. Yes, the blender is expensive, but the Vita-Mix is the last blender you will ever buy. Do you want to give a gift that will make your favorite cook’s jaw drop? Don’t give any blender; give a Vita-Mix and get a WOW reaction!

Then, infuse a tropical flavor into your next holiday party with this frozen concoction that is easy and fast to make in a Vita-Mix.

Mango Margarita

  • 1 1/2 ounces tequila
  • 1/2 ounce Grand Marnier
  • 1/4 cup fresh mango puree
  • 1 tablespoon fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 1/2 cup ice

Use a mango splitter to pit the mango. Place in the Vita-Mix with the tequila, Grand Marnier, and lime juice. Puree until smooth. Add ice and puree until slushy.

This is really an awesome blender, and the machine is so rugged that you’ll have 20 years of service out of it. It is expensive, but sure beats having to replace your el cheapo blender every 15 months or so, just after the warranty has expired.
