The long wait is over and the garlic has arrived! Eight months ago, we planted garlic cloves and now we have dug a beautiful crop of garlic heads. The freshly-dug garlic is available for purchase only at Kitchen Conservatory. Hurry in; we always sell out. The garlic is ready earlier than usual, due to the warm, dry spring. The garlic is just as delicious; I’m planning on a plate of roasted garlic with fresh bread for dinner tonight!
If you have never tasted fresh garlic, the difference is as pronounced as the difference between a homegrown tomato versus the hard, red balls that supermarkets sell in the winter. The garlic now available in the supermarkets was harvested last year and often has a bitter taste. Fresh garlic is sweet and pungent, not sour. Please try some!
